Keto Parmesan Crusted Chicken Ready In 30 Mins

Keto Parmesan Crusted Chicken Ready In 30 Mins

I’m sure I caught your attention with the words parmesan crust. You already know this is an insanely good recipe, am I right?

It all starts with a few lean chicken breasts that, after a quick olive oil drizzle and some Italian seasoning, are ready to be baked to perfection in a tomato marinara sauce.

We’re topping the whole thing with almost a full cup of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese for a thick, cheesy crust that will brown beautifully. Then you just need to garnish your dish with basil leaves. That’s it! A perfect Italian-inspired meal no one can refuse, and it’s super low in carbs!

Here’s Why You’ll Love This Parmesan Crusted Chicken

Chicken is a noble ingredient, but it can also be unforgiving when cooked wrong. You know, when you end with dry, tough chicken, you just can’t eat. It turns out there’s a secret behind a tender, juicy chicken: cooking it slowly in the oven or in a slow cooker until the surrounding sauce is bubbly.

The sauce cooks the chicken, but this is a two-way relationship. As the chicken cooks, it releases some of its juices, which infuse the marinara sauce with a warming flavor hard to beat.

This recipe is quite easy, which is another reason to try it. Although it takes good 20 minutes to cook, you practically don’t have to do anything but wait while your kitchen is filled with the most satisfying Italian scents.

What Makes Italian Food Taste Italian?

This Italian chicken dish is more Italian American than authentically Italian. Still, we don’t have a problem with that- Actually, these types of cheesy, tomato-based dishes are the cornerstone over which we built all Italian American food.

What makes this dish taste so Italian is the marinara sauce, which you can buy or make at home. Then there’s the Italian herbs — basil, marjoram, oregano, rosemary and thyme.

Then, of course, the olive oil, which, although we use just a drizzle of it, makes all the difference, and let’s not forget about the cheese. What’s more Italian than lots of mozzarella and parmesan?

The Quality of The Ingredients Matter

This recipe is fool-proof; it’s been trialed and tested a dozen times, always with astounding results. I’ve noticed, though, that sometimes it renders a pretty tasty dish, and others, it produces an extraordinary meal of restaurant quality.

So, what’s the difference? It has to do with the quality of the ingredients, starting with the cheese.

I know, buying a bag of shredded cheese from the supermarket is easy, but read the ingredients, and soon you’ll see there’s actually little cheese in that bag. If you want the crunchiest cheese crust, buy the real thing — using hand-crafted mozzarella, and parmesan cheese is the real difference.

Tips To Cook An Awesome Meal in Less Than 30 Minutes

Let’s start with a few extra tips to get your chicken parmesan mozzarella casserole just right.

  • Grease the casserole thoroughly and prefer butter over nonstick spray. They both work just fine, though.
  • Use fresh Italian seasonings. Although dried herbs indeed last a long time, they do lose some of their aromatic intensity. So, consider replacing your jar of Italian seasonings at least every two months.
  • Cook with a smile on your face. This is one of those dishes that either you get right or don’t, and the difference is more often than not your attitude. Pour yourself half a glass of wine, play some music and cook with the Italian spirit in mind.

Let’s Get Cookin’! This Is What You’ll Need

Keep in mind this recipe calls for three chicken breasts, but you can scale the recipe up or down to your needs — just make sure the chicken is not too tight!
