For many people, breakfast is just not the same without bread, mainly fluffy and versatile homemade biscuits. You can dip them in whatever you’re eating, top them with scrambled eggs and a crispy slab of bacon, or just nibble on them.
Biscuits are the quintessential breakfast bake, but they’re versatile at lunch and dinner as well — they can do it all. Why? Because they’re tasty, yes, but they don’t steal the spotlight from other food; they’re simply great complements!
Bread and keto are two words not seen in the same sentence often, but these biscuits are not only keto, they’re bready and delicious!
Biscuits in the Microwave?
These are not ordinary biscuits for many reasons; yes, they’re totally low carb, but they’re also high in protein and healthy fats. The best part? We’re making them in the microwave, and that makes all the difference!
Nothing beats the aroma of freshly baked biscuits in the morning, but who wants to wake up early to bake them in the oven? Especially when we all have a microwave that can do the job just fine.
What I love the most about microwave biscuits is that if I run out of them at the table, I can make a new batch in three minutes. Isn’t that convenient?
What You’ll Need
This recipe calls for almond flour, butter and baking powder as the base. You can also use coconut flour for similar results. You also need an egg to bring it all together, and a splash of water helps hydrate the otherwise dry batter. Then there’s the good stuff, heavy whipping cream and cheddar cheese. Who doesn’t love cheesy biscuits?
Now, the exciting part. You can customize the biscuits with your favorite cooking herbs and spices. A pinch of Italian seasoning makes these biscuits taste incredibly fancy. Just a pinch of oregano, red chili flakes, salt and pepper will enhance them nicely as well. The sky’s the limit!
What to Do with Keto Microwave Biscuits?
For starters, biscuits are compatible with both sweet and savory food. Spread some nut butter over your biscuit for a light, quick and easy breakfast on the go, or top it with grilled sausage or bacon for a decadent bite.
Did you know you can top a creamy chicken and mushroom casserole with biscuits? The bread soaks up all that delicious gravy for a truly satisfying meal.
Make these keto biscuits your go-to table bread and serve them with everything. At the end of the day, bread is bread, which means it goes well with every meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Let’s Microwave Some Biscuits!
Now that you know all there is about these keto biscuits let’s check out the recipe. Mixing all the ingredients should take five minutes if you have everything in hand, including the grated cheese.
As for the cooking time, I must say all microwaves are different, but the biscuits will probably be ready in around three minutes. Not bad for airy homemade bread, is it?
