How to Start a Keto Diet for Beginners: The Ultimate Guide

So if you have been trying to lose weight for quite a while , you may have heard about a popular diet named Keto .

Which seems to be everyone’s favorite because of it’s unbelievable results in a quick amount of time with comparatively lower effort.

Keto diet is not only a great way to lose weight but also improves health like blood pressure and diabetes and the the list doesn’t stop here.

It is also found in a study that Keto diet results in a increased amount of energy and focus due to High Fat intake .

So it must be something special so let’s dig into some facts.

1. What is Keto ?

Keto Diet is a strict low carb diet in which you lower the intake of carbs and replace it with fats.

For E.g An Ideal diet should consist of High fat , moderate protein and low carbs.

So when you follow the Ketogenic diet , you force your body to take energy from fats instead of carbohydrates.

Due to the shortage of Carbohydrates, your glycogen stores remain empty due to which your liver produce ketones and your body gets into the state of ketosis.

So let’s find out how does your body react when you take a routine diet which is full of carbs vs when when you replace the carbs with fat which is the ketogenic diet.

A. Effect of Traditional Diet :

When you eat your routine meal which is rich in carbs your body breaks down the Carbs into glucose for energy .

Due to which the fats you consume gets stored in your body hence making you fat.

Since Carbs are the most easily digested macro nutrient among fat and protein , once your Glycogen stores get empty you start feeling hungry again.

Due to which you tend to eat more and because of continuous storage of fat as your body is using carbs for energy you become fat.

To burn the fat you either have to exercise or consume less calories throughout the day.

B. Effect of Keto Diet :

However the Ketogenic diet is almost opposite of this process , when you eat meal high in fats and low in carbs .

Your body eventually moves from carbs to fat for taking the energy and the fat never gets stored.

Is Keto Diet good for health ? :

1. Goodbye Tiredness :

So earlier in the blog post I discussed that Keto diet results in a increased amount of energy and helps you get rid of tiredness.

How ?

When you consume a diet low in Carbs , your body produces less insulin to transfer it into bloodstream .

So decreased insulin levels results in increased energy levels and removes tiredness.

So if you are fed up with giving up on every task because of laziness you might want consider the Ketogenic diet

2. Cholesterol , Blood pressure ?

Well if you find yourself in this category I am sorry you might be little bit aged but don’t worry keto diet even works in these areas.

When it comes to Cholesterol levels,

It is found in a study that ketogenic diet produces more Healthy HDL ( high density lipoprotein ) than traditional high carb diet which means keto diet improves Cholesterol problem.

Since keto diet results in extreme weight loss , it improves blood pressure level as people who are overweight eventually  have more blood pressure issues.

3. Mighty Weight loss powers :

So there are a lot of reasons to love the Ketogenic diet but the weight loss seems to be the most dominant one.

Since Carbs are the most easily absorbed fuel in your body and are digested very quickly which makes you feel hungry almost every time.

While when you consume high fat diet , it controls your appetite and makes you feel full until longer.

Who should NOT do a Ketogenic diet?

A keto diet is normally very safe, but if under these 3 conditions you will need to consult a doctor !

  • Diabetes
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Breastfeeding

What To Eat On A Keto Diet :

Since In a ketogenic diet you should consume lowest amount of carbs , because you will be forcing your body to switch from carbs to fats to get energy.
